Day 45

London Underground 11:36pm 8-4-10

Troy and are riding a train to St. Pancras station where we are planning on spending the night. This morning we got up and packed up camp. We got on the bus to Cascais. Then the train to Lisbon. We planned to walk around the city before heading to the airport for our 7:55pm flight. We walked back towards the Plaza Comercial an some guy tried to sell Troy some weed. We really wanted to see Castella do sao Jorge. We got as bit lost and realized that we had to go up to get to the castle. It was hot and we had our packs on so we were sweating like crazy. When we got up there we realized that it was only a hundred year old castle. We weren't planning on going in but were hoping we could see it from the outside, but the walls were too high. We headed back down and found some unique souvenirs. We got to the train station to see if there was a bus to the airport and to ask about the Expo, but we were at the wrong station. We asked more people and finally found a bus to the airport. We tried not to be too bummed about not being able to see much of what we wanted in Lisbon, but it turned out that our bus ride to the airport was almost like a tour bus. We saw all kinds of monuments, founatins and cool buildings as we headed into the center of Lisbon to the airport. We got to the airport, got our packs ready and checked in. Then we relaxed, ate some fruit and finished our water before heading through security. I actually got stopped, patted down and swept with a metal detector, Troy got through fine. We walked around the shops and food places, found our gate and ate McDonald's. We sat by our gate ready to board our plane. I read Murder on the Orient Express while Troy played some guitar. They opened our gate and led us down an escalator and to a bus. We took a ten minute bus ride to our plane. We got on and were not happy to be joined by an obnoxious group of Scouts with a loud DB of a scout leader. Troy and I read for most of the flight and were pleasantly surprised with a relatively good in-flight meal. We got off the plane, got our Luggage and now we are headed to St. Pancras.
