Train from Edinburgh to North Berwick 9:44pm 8-12-10
Troy and I got up this morning and got ready for our day. We had some peanut butter rolls for breakfast at which time Troy managed to break not one but both of our sporks! We packed up some food for the day and walked through North Berwick, looking into Thrift Shops along the way. I pulled a pair of pants off the rack and found a huge spider on them. Troy took them outside and shook them off. But I still didn't feel like trying them on. We continued through town and took the train into Edinburgh. We found some internet and got caught up, then we walked through the mall looking at souvenirs. We headed up to the royal mile and walked through the Fringe festival. There was music, comedy, and all kinds of different acts going on at local venues and out in the street. We saw some cool stuff and then went and bought our tickets for the Mark King's Close tour for latter that evening. It started pouring rain! We headed to a Chinese food buffet for lunch. It was amazing. We walked back up toward the royal mile stopping at all the Scottish shops along the way. Then we headed back for our underground tour. It was pretty cool, we got to walk underneath the city. The streets were so small I can't imagine living in a close before it got covered over and there were people that lived there after. After the tour Troy and I wandered around looking in shops and watching various street performers. We ended up going into Pizza Hut for cookie dough dessert, then we had just enough time to get to the train station and catch the 9:40 train back to North Berwick. We're going to have a bit of a walk in the dark back to our camp site, but we're both so tired we plan to just conk out afterwards. Tomorrow night we will be in Belfast.
